Weight Of The World

Date : 25th July 2004

All of us in life come against choices. When God asks us to choose. He will be with us either way, but each choice will determine a different destiny for us. Something like what the Lord had to do. More often than not, as believers, we need to choose the path which will benefit others, giving up our own dreams/wishes. That's what this song is all about.

By the way, this song is co-written by Rishaanth Cherian. A junior at college. He took the song I had initially written and modified the words a bit and came up with a REALLY cool tune... It's a hit with all who've heard it. This is a soft number...

In a garden so long ago
A lone man sought solace
He saw a world to be saved
He prayed for more strength

He had a job to be done
But He was sweating blood
He knew what He had to do
Save the world...

He had the weight of the world
On His shoulders
Making Him faint and weak
He carried the sins of a millenia
And hopes of a million men
With hands so full
And a heart so heavy
For He carried the
Weight of the world on His shoulders

In a place so far apart
Both in time and place
A man tries to reason it out
Struggling to do God's will

He has a job to be done
Sacrifice to make
He knows what he's gotta do
Save the world...

He has the weight of the world on his shoulders
Making him faint and weak
He carries the souls of a millenia
And lives of a million men
His heart is full
But has to be emptied
For he carries the
Weight of the world on his shoulders

Bridge:
He lays it down
The life he knows
The life he wants
His deepest desires
Crucified
To resurrect
As a man of God
To do His will
Gives up his own
To make Him known

He has the weight of the world on his shoulders
Making him faint and weak
He carries the souls of a millenia
And lives of a million men
His heart is full
But has to be emptied
For he carries the
Weight of the world on his shoulders
